About

Why SunLender?

SunLender was created top benefit Solar Power System Installers and Homeowners

Demand for electricity is steadily increasing causing household electricity bills to skyrocket.

A homeowner’s cost control of electricity is unknown. A Solar Power System allows a homeowner to set a fixed cost and drive savings for years to come. SunLender is committed to providing property owners with a simplified solar financing solution, giving you the choice of either a lease or a loan. Our network of leading Installers can draw up custom plans to match your toughest roof requirements, resulting in a system tailor-made for your home for zero out-of-pocket expense.

The SunLender program was developed for Solar Power System Installers.

Solar Installers across the country don’t always have the resources to find financing for customers, or the capital to provide it themselves.

For the last 40 years, we have been working with the building trades financing distributors and Installers as well as consumer home improvement projects.  We understand your business, we understand that you have to present solutions to your customers, and we have designed our finance program to specifically address your needs. Our Installer partners can reap the benefits of our industry-specific experience, connections and network.

Integrated Portal – Our pre-qualifying quote system lets Installers and homeowners know immediately if they pre-qualify for a lease or loan. This proprietary solar proposal platform enables Installers to present professional sales proposals to residential customers. The proposal offers several financing options as well as graphic representation of their solar investment.

  • Quick Quote Ability – We are focused on helping you sell more and streamlining that process with our sales tools.  The Quick Quote tool allows Installers to model a variety of products and pricing with a minimum of input, which can easily be converted to a sales proposal.
  • Easy Proposal to Signature Process – Not only do we provide financing, but we also directly service all of our consumer leases and loans.  We are a one-stop-shop and are able to serve both you the installer and your homeowner customers more effectively.
  • We can finance more than just PV – We are a finance company, not just a solar finance company.  We do not limit you to only finance solar solutions. We keep up with our Installers to provide financing for energy management solutions.

More efficient than other programs – When you offer multiple residential solar finance solutions you can tailor your sales pitch to your customer’s needs and close more deals.  With one approval you can offer your customer:

  • SunLender™ Zero Down Solar Lease – The homeowner leases the solar PV equipment and makes a low monthly payment for the length of the contract term.
  • SunLender™ Zero Down Solar Loan – A fully amortized loan that provides a low monthly payment and path to ownership. The homeowner keeps the rebates and tax credits and increases the value of their home.
  • SunLender Plus™ Energy Efficiency Signature Loan – An unsecured loan that provides financing for energy efficiency solutions and can be approved simultaneously with a solar lease or loan.

Program tailored to Installer’s business – we only partner with the best and we trust our Installers

  • Easier program management – We developed our process given our 40-year experience working with the building trades.  Financing is a solution, but it should not overly burden your organization.
  • Faster payment – Experience gives us the insight to know that sales are important, but Cash Flow is more important.  Our program is tailored to help you grow your business and increase your origination.
  • Cash Flow – Interim Jobs/Construction financing provided by ProPower Construction allows you to grow sales and perpetuate deal flow.
  • Program is set up to scale with growth – Using online systems and tools, we are built for growth and have the ability to scale with you.

For Homeowners who want to go green, while saving green … SunLender is here to help you install and save

Every home is unique. There is no ‘one size fits all’ solar residential finance solution out there, contrary to what much of the industry might say. That’s why we offer both a lease and a loan – so that your Installer can design the best system, with the best financing, with the longest warranty, for the best price, guaranteed. Your family has unique needs and we want to provide the right solution for you. We have designed residential solar financing solutions that require little or no money down, and have positive impact to your monthly cash flow.

Our Installer partners can show you how your new solar power system will pay for itself right away, by funding the monthly financing payment with the savings from your electricity bill. By combining federal and local rebates and incentives and using our innovative financing solutions, you can install a solar power system that will save you tens of thousands of dollars over its life, without requiring cash outlays at the time of installation!

Why SunLender?

  • Flexible Financing with little to no money down.
  • Rent or Own your equipment – the choice is yours.
  • Do the right thing! – Replace dirty grid power with clean renewable energy and save your family money.
  • Increase the value of your home – The Department of Energy completed a study in April 2011 that concluded a home seller who invested in solar panels could expect to capture a premium of $18,600-$23,870 versus comparable homes without solar panels,

Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada, often known as simply “Vegas”, is the most populous city in the Nevada, the county seat of Clark County and the city proper of the Las Vegas Valley. Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city known primarily for gambling, shopping, fine dining and nightlife and is the leading financial and cultural center for Southern Nevada.

A growing retirement and family city, Las Vegas is the 29th-most populous city in the United States, with a population of 603,488 (2013 U.S. Census estimates), The 2013 population of the Las Vegas Metropolitan area was 2,027,828. Las Vegas was America’s fastest-growing city and metropolitan area from 1960 to 2000, and has grown from a gulch of 100 people in 1900 to 10,000 by 1950 to 100,000 by 1970.

Las Vegas is generally used to describe not just the city itself, but areas beyond the city limits—especially the resort areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip — and the Las Vegas Valley. The 4.2 mi stretch of South Las Vegas Boulevard, known as the Las Vegas Strip, is in the unincorporated communities of Paradise, Winchester and Enterprise, located in Clark County.

Climate

Located in Southern Nevada, in a basin on the floor of the Mojave Desert, and surrounded by mountain ranges on all sides, Las Vegas has a subtropical hot desert climate. The city enjoys abundant sunshine year-round; it has an average of about 310 sunny days per year, compared to 205 days a year as an average in America, making it perfect for residential solar photovoltaic system applications. Virtually free of tornadoes and ice storms, Las Vegas is situated in a basin on the floor of the Mojave Desert and is surrounded by mountain ranges on all sides.

Households

As of the 2013 U.S. Census estimates, Las Vegas had a population of 603,488. The population density was 4,222.5 people per square mile and there were some 212,000 households, and 118,000 families residing in the city. That makes up some 191,000 housing units at an average density of 1,683.3/sq mi.

Within Las Vegas households, 31.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.3% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.5% were non-families. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.20.

In the city, the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 32.0% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 103.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.5 males.

The media income for a household in the city was $53,000 and the median income for a family was $58,465. Males had a median income of $35,511 versus $27,554 for females. The per capita income for the city was $22,060. About 6.6% of families and 8.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.4% of those under age 18 and 6.3% of those were age 65 or over.

Solar Energy

Rooftop solar talked up at Las Vegas energy summit

LAS VEGAS (AP) – The costs and benefits of rooftop solar electricity in Western states emerged as a key topic during an annual green power conference hosted by U.S. Sen. Harry Reid in Las Vegas and keynoted by President Barack Obama.

The eighth National Clean Energy Summit at the Mandalay Bay resort was the forum Presodent Obama used to announce new executive actions and other efforts aimed at making it easier for homeowners and businesses to invest in green energy improvements.

Reid opened the conference highlighting a local utility’s plan to build a 15 megawatt solar generation project on 80 acres west of Las Vegas. It will serve the Valley Electric Association, and company chief Tom Husted said it could help lower electricity prices for about 25,000 customers in Nevada and California.

The debate about costs to consumers installing home rooftop solar panels and to utilities that control the electric grid in sunny states such as Nevada, Arizona, California, New Mexico and Utah provided a point-counterpoint discussion between Charles Cicchetti of the Pacific Economics Group, speaking for consumers, and Lisa Wood of the Edison Foundation, representing utilities.

“It’s a misconception that rooftop solar users don’t need the grid,” Wood said. She called it only fair that customers continue to pay to maintain the transmission system from which they draw electricity during peak use times and at night.

“The misconception,” Cicchetti said, “is that consumers are required to buy power from the utilities. The bigger danger to the companies, would be for rooftop solar users to become so alienated that they find ways to store electricity collected during the day and withdraw from the grid altogether.”

Reid, who has made clean-and-green energy one of his touchstone issues at the conference, noted in opening remarks that the key challenge today is “properly valuing rooftop solar, properly valuing energy efficiency and properly valuing other distributed sources of clean energy.”

One leader of a utility company said she welcomed the trend.

Almost one-third of the energy used by California utility giant Pacific Gas & Electric comes from what company president Geisha Williams called a renewable portfolio standard.

PG&E serves an area with about 16 million people in northern and central California, and Williams said it now has some 175,000 customers with home solar generation.

Williams said her company gets as many as 5,000 applications per month for rooftop solar, and it has streamlined approvals so they usually take about five days.

Nevada solar industry facts:

  • Nevada is where President Obama chose to publicly begin a renewed focus on clean energy and climate. Nevada has been dubbed the “Saudi Arabia of solar” and has recently shown the growth to prove it. Solar jobs in the state increased from 2,400 in 2013 to 5,900 in 2014, a 146 percent increase, according to the Solar Foundation.
  • On a per capita basis, sunny Nevada now has more solar jobs than any other state (though neighboring California’s solar industry is far bigger overall). And no wonder: It has vast solar potential. In 1999, one Energy Department scientist even calculated that covering 10,000 square miles of the desert north of here with solar panels could power the entire United States.
  • There are currently some 111 solar companies at work throughout the value chain in Nevada, employing those 5,900 people.
  • In 2014, Nevada installed 339 MW of solar electric capacity, ranking it 3rd nationally.
  • The 974 MW of solar energy currently installed in Nevada ranks the state fifth in the United States in installed solar capacity. There is enough solar energy installed in the state to power 150,000 homes.
  • In 2014, $569 million was invested on solar installations in Nevada.  This represents a 427% increase over the previous year, and is expected to grow again this year.
  • Installed solar photovoltaic system prices in the U.S. have dropped steadily — by 6% from last year and 53% from 2010.

Solar Companies in Nevada

There are currently about 111 solar companies at work throughout the value chain in Nevada.  These companies provide a wide variety of solar products and services ranging from solar system installations to the manufacturing of components used in photovoltaic panels.  These companies can be broken down across the following categories: 14 manufacturers, 6 manufacturing facilities, 60 contractor/installers, 11 project developers, 10 distributors and 16 engaged in other solar activities including financing, engineering and legal support.

Solar Panel Installations in Nevada

Nevada is ranked 5th in the U.S. in solar power capacity with 789 MW. This is enough power for approximately 120,000 homes.

Other Nevada solar power facts include:

  • A total of $569 million was infused in the state to allow for more solar installations in the residential, commercial, and utility markets in 2014 alone. This is an incredible 427% increase over 2013.
  • The state of Nevada added 339 MW of solar power in 2014. This ranked it 3rd for that year compared to other states.
  • Prices for solar PV (photovoltaic) systems in Nevada have come down 8% from 2013-2014.
  • About 111 solar companies exist in the state. They actively employ more than 5,900 people.

As costs have come down in the solar PV market, Nevada’s solar capacity has exploded in recent years. This is not surprising as the state receives bountiful sunshine making it an ideal location for the capture of solar energy.

Nevada has an aggressive Renewable Portfolio Standard in that it requires that, by 2025, it generates 25% of its energy from renewable sources. And 5% of that figure must come from solar power.

While almost all of the solar power capacity available in Nevada is generated at the utility scale, residential solar is about to increase rapidly. The savings the average homeowner would experience by installing solar panels is significant. Many Nevada residents pay hundreds of dollars per month for electricity during summer months when peak usage becomes very expensive.

There are only two major metropolitan areas in the state of Nevada; Las Vegas and Reno. The largest cities in these two areas include Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Reno, Sparks, and Carson City. There are approximately 59 solar contractors at work throughout the state.

Residential Solar Energy System

Also known as a grid-connected photovoltaic system, a typical residential solar energy system is what will be discussed on this page.

One of the great things about PV systems is how simple they actually are. There are only a few components involved and the system is basically maintenance-free once it is installed.

While there are many different types and brands of products that are available that solar contractors use in their installations, the basic idea remains the same.

SunLender serves all of Nevada and has special programs for cities including:

Carson City

Henderson,
